What's in a Name?

A question to think about is what’s in a name really? Human beings are famous for labeling one another. I mean just think how we classify one another everyday: over-achiever, under-achiever, blue-collar, white-collar, dreamer, type A personality, studious, go-getter…and I could go on...you get the idea.

But how does God label us?

Abraham’s offspring (Galatians 3:29)

A royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9)

Children of God (Romans 8:16)

Ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20)

All of these labels are magnificent and praise worthy. These should make us feel thankful to our Heavenly Father that he should love us so much that he would call us by these wonderful names.

Yet there is one label that we are not given but we must choose for ourselves:

“…You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great men exercise authority over them. But it is not so among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:42-45)

So what name do you want?
